Jill Blocker

Jill Blocker is an author, poet, and former journalist whose work has gained international recognition. She is the author of the literary, historical fiction novel “What was Beautiful and Good,” (“Was schön war und gut”), and the YA/New Adult contemporary romance novel, “Happily After Ever.” Her work has been featured by leading international media outlets, including The Washington Post, NPR, TEDx, and The Daily Show, as well as The Guardian, SeattlePI, KOMO News, The Star Press, MAINTENANT: A Journal of Contemporary Dada Writing and Art, and numerous literary journals, podcasts, and news outlets.

Her debut novel, “What was Beautiful and Good,” (2023, 2026) was an Amazon #1 Bestseller in the category, History of Switzerland, and received international recognition for its lyrical prose and historical accuracy. It was long-listed for the BookLife Prize and HOTLIST 2024, in the category of “Literarur aus anderen sprachen,” honouring independent publications contributing to the richness, quality and success of German-language literary culture. It was also nominated for the Schweizer Büchersalon 2024 in Berlin by the Swiss Publishers‘ Association. Positive, comprehensive reviews were also published by the Hugo Ball Almanach (Neue Folge 17/ 2026, in conjunction with the Hugo Ball Society, and on the Offenen Kanal SH (Flensburg, Germany) television program, Literatur im Gelb by Stefanie Oeding.

Her second novel, “Happily After Ever,” was released in July 2026 with an international, multi-city book tour.

Jill studied creative writing through Stanford University’s Extended Studies Program and received a degree in Journalism from Ball State University. Originally from the U.S., she resides in Zürich and considers herself a citizen of the world.
